Fresh Green Beans With Garlic, Onion, and Bacon

 

Start with a couple good fist-full's of fresh green beans.
Wash, and trim ends.

Cook in boiling salted water for 10 to 15 min.

In a skillet melt 1/2 cup of butter and add
1 teaspoon of garlic powder
2 generous tablespoons of dried minced onion
3 generous tablespoons of good quality bacon bits
salt and pepper

Stir in one or more of the following extras:
mushrooms (fresh or canned)
cherry tomatoes (halved or quartered)
small jar of pimientos
small can of sliced water chestnuts
1/4 cup toasted almond slivers
1/2 cup pearl onions
3 or 4 small new potatoes (sliced thin, canned or fresh)

Now remove the hot green beans from the boiling water and add them to the butter mixture.
Mix well, cover and simmer til ready to serve. About 10 to 15 min.

Serve hot.
