Grilled Banana Splits
large bananas, unpeeled, long stems cut off
semisweet chocolate chips
butterscotch chips
miniature marshmallows
optional: broken graham cracker bits, maraschino cherries,
candied pineapple, chopped nuts, coconut, fresh berries,
use your imagination and include whatever toppings you like
Heat your grill as needed for your meal.
When your meal is nearly done prepare bananas.
Spray sheets of aluminum foil lightly with cooking spray.
Slice the peel of the bananas from stem to bottom, slicing the banana
inside (lengthwise).
Do not cut through the peel on the other side.
If you like you can cut the bananas into slices (while still in the
peel) for easier handling later.
Carefully open the banana just wide enough to fill with desired toppings.
Stuff in as many chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, marshmallows,
and optional toppings as you like. Really fill them up!
Wrap the bananas in the aluminum foil.
Place wrapped bananas on the grill (or directly into the coals of a
campfire).
Leave on long enough to melt the chips and marshmallows, 5 to 10 minutes.
Unwrap bananas, open the peels wide to create a bowl, grab a spoon
and enjoy!
