Italian Patty Melts

Patties:

1 egg
1/4 cup pizza or spaghetti sauce
3 tablespoons fine seasoned bread crumbs
black pepper
1 pound ground beef

Mix well and shape into 4 oval shaped patties and set aside.

 

Bread:

8 thin slices of italian style bread (french bread loaf)
2 tablespoons melted butter
1/2 teaspoon italian seasonings
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder

Mix butter and seasonings and coat both sides of the bread slices.
Toast bread in a large skillet and set aside.

 

In the same large skillet cook patties 4 to 6 minutes per side or until no longer pink in the middle.


Top with another 1/4 cup of sauce and sprinkle with 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese.

Continue heating just until cheese has melted.

Serve patties between toasted bread slices.
