Sourkraut Hot Dog Topping

 

1 tablespoon butter

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 medium onion, sliced

2 cups sourkraut, drained well (really squeeze it dry!)

1/2 teaspoon coarse salt

coarse black pepper to taste

1/2 teaspoon chili powder

2 tablespoons packed brown sugar

 

In a deep skillet on medium heat melt butter with oil until just barely brown.

Add onion slices and saute to soften.

Stir in sourkraut and mix well.

Sprinkle with salt,pepper, chili powder, and sugar; mix well.

Heat through and serve hot as a topping for dogs, brats, and sausages.
